Bethlehem-style Tahriri Embroidery


Join us to learn a traditional Bethlehem style stitching technique with artist Wafa Ghnaim. In this two-hour virtual classes, students will learn how to embroider using various threads and stitches. The main focus of the class is to learn the use of variegated or metallic threads to do a couching stitch.

You will learn the meaning and history of the pattern in focus, the use of variegated or metallic threads (or learning the new stitch) and the particularities that are required in executing successful outcomes. Wafa will also cover how to thread a needle with special consideration of the thread, stitching strategy to execute a clean motif, and tips and tricks unique to the motif and thread.
