TATTER strives to share beautiful products from makers across the globe. These beaded collar necklaces and bracelet cuffs display the incredible beadwork of Watatakalu Yawalapiti, an indigenous woman, artist and activist from Brazil. She is one of the founders and the leader of MMX- Movimento Mulheres do Xingú (Xingú Women’s Movement) to support, advance, and strengthen the cause of the indigenous women since they believe women are the guardians of their culture and protectors of the forest. Watatakalu is from the Yawalapiti people, one of the several ethnicities that form the original peoples of Brazil. They live at the Xingú River Indigenous Territory, a large, historically protected (but presently threatened) territory on the southern Amazon forest.

While Watatakalu designs pieces using a variety of colors and motifs, we have selected her bluest pieces that coincide with our color of the moment. Her work in blue shows the great depth of the color through styles ranging from sharp geometrics to soft scallops. Many of the designs are based on the graphic patterns of her people.

Please note: The collared necklaces do vary in neck circumference. Select a necklace from the drop-down menu to view its size!
