KOGIN EMBROIDERY

October 1, 2026 | Virtual Workshop | Sanae Ishida

Kogin or Kogin-zashi is a variant of Sashiko, the much beloved Japanese embroidery style. Originating in northern Japan and distinctive for the counted stitches technique, Kogin is a form of cross stitching rooted in the Sashiko mending tradition. Though dense in appearance and seemingly complex, the method is quite simple and the symmetry and repetitiveness create a soothing rhythm. In this beginner-friendly hand stitching class, author and maker Sanae Ishida will guide you through the basics of Kogin, a lovely antidote for our rushed, technology-infused days.
