Learn how to create a delicate paper poppy using Italian crepe paper. From understanding the unique qualities of the paper itself to cutting, shaping, and hand-coloring each petal and stamen, you’ll build your own interpretation of this expressive flower. A symbol of remembrance, rest, and imagination, the poppy offers endless opportunities for experimentation and personal expression.
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll explore how to read and work with crepe paper, learning to understand its grain, stretch, and texture. You’ll also experiment with hand-coloring techniques to dye your own petals, creating the poppy’s characteristic depth, subtle variations, and softly blended edges.
As you bring your flower together, you’ll learn how to wire, shape, and construct each element by hand. The workshop will also guide you through building the poppy’s distinctive centre, from its delicate stamens to its sculptural seed pod, before assembling each component into a finished flower.

Our Teacher
Summer Space started in 2018 when artist Poy Twitchsri-Granati challenged herself to make one paper flower a day for 100 days—and fell in love with the process. What began as a personal project has grown into a joyful studio creating custom paper flowers for everything from home decor and gifts to special events, brand installations, and more.
In addition to handcrafted blooms, Summer Space also hosts hands-on workshops—perfect for private celebrations or team-building. Each class invites you to slow down, get creative, and discover the joy of making something beautiful with your own hands. It’s all about helping you bloom in your element.
