Join us for a relaxed, summer-inspired creative gathering centered on stitching, storytelling, and connection. This workshop invites participants to slow down, reflect, and create through embroidery on fun postcards inspired by your travels, favorite restaurants, or beloved shops—transforming simple paper into textured, meaningful keepsakes.
Participants will explore working on paper without embroidery hoops, learn how to choose the right tools for stitching on paper, and build confidence with foundational embroidery stitches. We’ll also explore thoughtful finishing techniques—either backing pieces to create polished, gift-ready cards or leaving the back exposed to honor the handmade process.
This class encourages slow making and intentional creativity, perfect for summer relaxation and connecting with new stitching friends.
Perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike, participants will leave with a finished stitched piece and a deeper appreciation for how paper, thread, and creativity come together to tell a story.

Ayana B. Joy is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller whose work spans hand lettering, paper stitching, journaling, and recycled-glass jewelry. Through her creative practices, @StitchGriot, @ScriptGriot, and @AyanaBJoy, she creates slow, intentional artworks rooted in culture, ritual, and storytelling.
With Stitch Griot, she blends words and thread into tactile paper and textile pieces that invite reflection and rest.
Through Script Griot, she explores lettering as a meditative practice for expression, affirmation, and creative flow.
As Ayana B. Joy, she transforms recycled glass into ocean-inspired adornments that honor her Caribbean heritage and the stories held in water, memory, and renewal.
